Summer
Wellington TutorStudying in her second year towards a Bachelor of Science at Te Herenga Waka with a major in Biotechnology and minors in Environmental Studies and Maori Resource Management; Summer is a science student with strong interdisciplinary understanding. She is driven in her work and studies by a passion for using and promoting science to create positive change, particularly in relevance to the environment.
As a self-proclaimed biology nerd and David Attenborough fan-girl, Summer has a deep love for the life sciences that she is passionate about sharing. She can tutor Chemistry, Biology, Statistics, and Media Studies up to level 3 and believes there is no student who is “just not a science kid”. In her spare time, Summer enjoys getting out in nature, particularly in Wellington’s beautiful mountains. Or immersing herself in a new craft or digital design project.
Despite being a Wellingtonian born and raised, Summer has always been invested in broadening her horizons and recently returned from a 6-month international exchange at the University of California. She hopes to encourage more people to consider themselves on a global scale, despite living tucked away in the corner of the globe no dream is too big. Within tutoring, Summer hopes to widen her students’ perspectives beyond NCEA, understanding high school as a stepping stone, not a wall to climb over.
