Sophie

Sophie is currently a student at Victoria University of Wellington obtaining a Bachelor of Law and a Bachelor of Science majoring in Mathematics. She hopes to one day become a qualified lawyer and work at the United Nations. Sophie has a passion for the sciences, and believes that building problem solving skills is one of the most important aspects of education.

Sophie tutors Calculus, English, and History. She believes that building confidence and resilience with the student helps them immensely with their learning process. Sophie’s teaching style involves making sure the student understands the basics, before building their knowledge upon this. Although content is a vast part of her tutoring style, Sophie tries to adapt to what the student needs from her, whether this be through helping students with exam technique, time management, or communication with teachers.

In her spare time, you will likely find Sophie walking along the Wellington waterfront, or reading a book at the beach. Sophie is friendly and engaging, and likes to form relationships with her students so that she can tailor her lessons to each student and their individual needs. She is committed to her students’ learning and encourages them to reach their full potential.
