Solana

Wellington Tutor

Solana is currently completing a Bachelor of Science at Victoria University majoring in Psychology and minoring in Philosophy. She chose these subjects after discovering a deep interest in them during high school and in her first year at university. To her, these subjects are engaging and she enjoys how they challenge her to consider and think about the world and people from new perspectives and in different ways.

Outside of studying Solana enjoys hot cups of tea, good books and dance. She also has an appreciation for the outdoors and enjoys escaping for a few days on a good long hike. For her, tutoring is all about giving students the time that they might not be able to receive at school where the focus can be personalised to the student’s specific needs. This helps to upskill students by teaching them long-lasting skills that go beyond just the subject content including things like time management, study skills, organisation and mindset that will help them succeed beyond the classroom.

Solana creates a safe and positive tutoring environment with patience and encouragement that helps her students to feel comfortable making mistakes and asking questions. She believes this is the best way to learn and builds confidence in her students, motivating them to succeed in all areas of their learning journey. Solana can tutor NCEA English, Drama, Biology, Chemistry and Statistics. In high school, she found this diverse range of subjects helped her to learn many different study methods and encouraged her passions and creativity.
