Our top tips to excel in Physics
Get familiar with formulae
This is not only useful for answering numerical questions but for written questions too. Getting really familiar with your formula sheet will help you in all aspects of the exam. For example, understanding the formula for impulse (Δp = FΔt) and being able to explain the relationship between variables will enable you to get those Merit and Excellence marks.
Knowing the correct terminology
Even if you understand a concept and can communicate it clearly, you will not get those higher-level marks if you don’t use the correct terminology. Knowing key terms such as ‘centripetal force’ and being able to integrate them into your answer will ensure the marker understands what you are talking about.
Get lots of practice at exam-style questions
More often than not, questions will come up in the exam that are very similar to questions from past exams. Therefore, doing practice with past exam papers is a really effective way to study and get familiar with the types of questions that are asked. Make sure to give all the questions a go before looking at the answers so you are testing your knowledge and are able to identify any gaps in your knowledge.
